Was just wondering if anyone one else has had to change out there gauges after they stopped working because of turning over your ski?? If so did you just have to buy a new set and plug it in or did you have to have it programmed. All the posts are from like 3-4 years ago or longer but not very many of them. Anyways hate to spend that kind of cash and it just blow out on me.

Yes, the LCD gauges on the 4tecs do fail, especially the older ones from 02-05, changed quite a few. The normal failure mode is they just go dead but not from turning the ski over or any specific reason, just go blank all of a sudden, not intermittent. If you see moisture in it, it's just a matter of time. The ski should give a long beep after the initial 2 beeps telling you it's not connecting with the LCD gauge. The gauge doesn't have to be programmed, just pull it out and put a new one in. I normally switch gauges with a known good ski and make sure it is the gauge by testing both skis after switching because they are so expensive.

Yes, I've had my gauge cluster replaced on my 2008 RXT-X mine was warranty so dealership handled it. It was bad from the start with some of the Liquid Crystal line not working properly. Dealership replaced it and nothing worked properly ... They replace that one and no problems since. Only point here is that it is not un-common to have problems with them. My experience has not been complete failure with nothing, but with portions of the cluster not working.

Just to be clear, the 06 and newer gauges are a little different and more complicated. Sometimes the newer ones just wig out and never seem to work right but I haven't seen this with the older ones. The newer ones do appear to be more reliable but that may be just because they aren't as old.

When the newer ones need to be replaced, they first need to be flashed by BUDS to initialize them and then they need to be synced with the ECU for the machine they will go into. The older ones are just a simple swap, no BUDS needed.
