Has anyone experienced any problems with your depth finder not reading all of the time.
Sometime it reads, other times it just shows ---------?
Thanks, sawyerghost

I have the same problem.. As does others I've read about... I think a quick constant change in depth messes with the computer and it needs time to reset

Ref your trouble shooting guide. Could be keeping bottom area clean-oil and scum free. Scratches could mess with it.

How fast are you going when it reads ---------?

Generally depth finders don't read at speeds over 35 mph I've found.... my jetboat has a depth finder (transom mounted, not in-hull) and it never gives readings at over ~35mph. My RXT unfortunately doesn't have a depth finder, yet. I've read that in-hull mounted depth finder senors are even more limited than transom mounted ones.

Mine reads fine at all speeds. 2013 GTI SE. It does jump around a bit sometimes. Like I would be ideling and it will read a constant 45ft and it would jump to 25ft and back and forth. But it has only done this a few times.

Generally if air gets under the sensor it goes to infinity.

In hull mounts require not only a clean connection but require sealant with no air bubbles in it.

Stern mounts are required to not be right by an item that creates turbulents when at speed.

I did speak with dealer about this, he said there is a service bullitin about this.
And to bring in while still under war. to have it checked out.
The way they want it tested is to place a empty tin can under the in hull sending unit, and if it does not read it needs to be reinstalled.
So at the end of the season here I will bring it to them.
