Everywhere I look nobody seems to like this model ski....so if I sell it...what would be a reliable (ish) ski to buy? Year? Model? 2 or 4 stroke? Carby or Injected? Etc....Thanks in advance

Well... it's not as bad as that. BUT...

1) The 951 engine wasn't the best engien from Rotax/seadoo for a long life. 200 ~ 300 hr's is about it. With heavy use... that coudl be 4 or 5 years.

2) RFI is a great system. UNTIL you have an issue. Then, it's hard to diagnose, and expensive to fix.

Personally... on the 2-strokes... I don't buy EFI, RFI, or Di skis.

With that said... if you are looking for something else... it all depends how much $$$ you have to spend. Newer 4-strokes are great... but it's hard to beat a mid to late 90's carb'ed ski for rock solid reliability. (assuming they aren't abused) AND... I'm sure most of th eguys in the 2-stroke section will agree.

Right now... I have a 96xp that runs great, and has the original engine. I also have a 2000 Polaris (2-stroke, carbs) that never skips a beat. BUT... I've had to massage both of them to be that way.

If you are looking for "Turn Key" relyabilltity, find a non-supercharged 4-stroke, that's only a few years old.

But aren't the 4 stroke (2006 on) Rfi's or DI's as well? I have not seen any 4 stroke carby ones.... were the earlier 2 strokes 3 seaters? or can I retro fit an earlier engine/drive train to my hull if and when the engine goes?

keep it !!!!!! just straighten out any problems you have and you will have a fuel efficient, oil efficient reliable ski, an rfi needs good clean fuel, fuel pressure, a new good battery, (not a kmart special) a good rectifier --- (and like most, carry a spare) -- mine this year, after march, i had absolutely no problems all summer long and up till now, and we use it nearly every week here in florida

Yup the RFIs arent as bad as the DIs. Whats wrong with it?

Yes the 4 strokes are injected, but its a whole nother animal. You cant really compare it to 2 strokes.

On the 4 strokes stay away from the supercharged ones unless you want to be spending $$ rebuilding the supercharger every 75hrs.

Nothing seriously wrong with it... oil coming out bungs...but after reading posts here seems that was a pressure problem when parked up...released cap all good....did have starting problems when hot new injectors fixed that... speedo fixed thanks to Tonka supplying S/H wheel assy....and I do prefer 2/strokes less moving parts less to go bang.....its a 110hp model? smaller then 951cc..think its a 782cc?...plenty big enough for me and the missus......

The oil can come out of two spots...and its usually the seam on those 2 piece tanks. I dont think I mentioned that in the other thread b/c it was a XPL with a different tank.

The fix for your machine is a one piece tank out of the 96 gsx/gtx. swaps in perfectly. I have a couple in stock.

Obviously the pressure builds up an its gonna seep from the bungs too, if not the seam. Clean the check valve to make sure its opening as easy as possible. Its supposed to open at 2-3 psi and I've measured some at over 5.
