GSX Limited problem

Right guys - my friends got a GSX limited, however having some huge problems with it

1. From cold takes a bit of cranking to get it to start, but once its started all is well
2. Try to increase throttle and bogs right down, and normally dies - Sometimes it suddenly rockets forward, but this is very unusual and doesn't happen often
3. While out of the water, the ski revs up fine.

So - what could be the problem?

I was thinking fouled up carbs? Possibly not setup correctly? The ski has no real history and we think it was sat for a large period before purchase, but again we can't be sure.

Any help would be appreciated.

O another thing, if you hold the choke about half way, the ski seems to be fine in the water - atleast a lot better! Can rev up and get up to speed and maintain that speed no problem - without doing that, you've got no chance.

could be old bad gas and grey fuel lines, carbs need rebuilt with OEM mikuni kits & new Needles & Seats.

my gts used to do this. its the inturnal carb fillters or fuel selector switch. both problems are caused by the grey fuel lines. if you want rid of the problem forever. replace all the grey fuel lines, the vent line don't matter. you need about 12-15 foot of black fuel line. then take out the fuel seclector switch and clean it( or replace it). then clean and rebuild your carbs with oem kits. it sucks and takes time to do but its worht it for the piece of mind.

Tell your friend he better do the above things before he runs it again. Wouldnt be bad to clean the gas tank completely out too.

I would also replace the little oil lines, the oil filter, and clean the rave valves.
