Ground Wire

Is there any issues with relocating the ground wire to the extra threaded spot by the exhaust manifold?

My ground was corroded so I pulled the ground off the starter. Everything is still in the ski and getting that bolt back on the starter with everything in the ski is a biotch. That's "why" I would like to do it

You should be fine. Make sure to use a grounding/star washer, and some conductive paint on the threads if you have some. The case material isn't as conductive as steel, so it will add some resistance, but not enough to cause a problem. If the ground cable is crusty... replace it. I've found that car audio power cable works extremely well if you need something quick.

In theory it will not matter. But in reality it will make a difference.

The closer the ground is to the starter means that the distance the "load" has to travel. More distance away from the stater the greater the resistance (load). That said, if the wire and connections are in great condition it would work fine. You want to ground to the motor as compared to the exhaust manifold as the manifold may be cast iron and may have gaskets separating it from the engine. If so, then just the stud you bolt to caries the load.

Bottom line is, the distance is not going to be a problem as long as you connect to the block and not a bolted on part.

I found a replacement ground cable at Walmart not OEM but good enough to get me through the weekend, that's been 4 years ago, it's still on the ski.

Although I have a new ground wire(which was needed anyway), it's amazing how a Seadoo will start if you put a good quality CHARGED battery in it haha
