Hello! I am new to the world of PWCs and have a couple questions.

I have found a 91 Sea Doo XP for sale for $200. It looks to be in good shape, however it is missing the jet pump and the owner does not know if it runs. I have found used jet pumps on eBay for around $100.

I am pretty good when it comes to mechanical things and Im not afraid to get dirty, but I am clueless when dealing with 2 cycle motors and PWCs. Does this sound like a good deal or should I pass?

How difficult are PWCs to work on?

Thanks!!!

Gary

i will tell you that prior to getting my 97 i had no knowledge of working on them. order the service manual for 4.99 off ebay make sure it has the parts manual with it. They are simple to work with the right tools and best advice I can tell you is to read then re-read the manual when it comes time to work on it.

If this is all the money I had to spend. I would have to think about it very hard. I would get a fresh battery before I bought it and see if I could even get the engine to run. If it would start by it self you may be able to have fun for a low price but to make it all correct you may have to spend $500.00 + that is if engine is in good shape.

I'm with Robin. I'ld like to see the motor actually be able to turn. This is core of where your costs could accumulate very quickly.
