I have a chance of getting a 95 speedster for about 2000. seller says that it runs good but gets water in the engine compartment. it has the twin 2 stroke motors but he didn't know how many hours they have. This would be my first boat and i want to make sure i could afford to fix it if i have to within the next year or so.

No idea on value but I can tell you a rebuilt 787 motor from SBT etc is around 1k *after shipping*, pump rebuild is what around like $150. So times that by two and that's top end of cost to repair or replace some parts.

I would do a comp test on both motors to see how healthy they are. Plan on doing carb's either way. If i am not mistaken an oem carb rebuild kit is around $150 so plan on that x2 either way. I love those boats but have never checked out the engine compartment. Is it basically a sea doo 787 setup but x2?
