Good job. This is why you should confirm pop-off, good thing you did.
I avoid replacing carb parts that don't need replacement for this reason, most of the time carbs stop working correctly b/c they're clogged and/or corroded internally. And I inspect everything closely using a magnifying glass still occasionally miss things.
Other types of carb that doesn't work properly are those that have been monkeyed with and have some wrong or inferior parts, or came from another application thus have a different calibration.
Just a small nick in the wire of the spring can cause it to have less tension, maybe with close examination you can discover the problem.
FWIW I'm currently running 80 gram black springs in my SBN46i's as a test, they work fine. I do still have the originals and intend on reinstalling them next time the carbs come off.
I have a habit of keeping any original parts for a lengthy period, occasionally they come in handy if not for anything but reference.
