Hello all,

for some reason the gas shock of the upper storage cover got disconnected and although Í've tried to figure it out myself I haven't got a clue what procedure to follow to get it back in shape. See attached pictures for more details, the screw that is on the upper part of the gas shock can be removed but put it on not to loose it

Anyone who can guide me through this step by step?

Hey Pat-

Funny I just reposted my thread re the same problem and was checking to see if it took...and saw yours. lol

It appears in the pics the ball has come loose from the upper strut mount. Remove the ball from the shock and re-attach the ball to the upper mount. Loctite the threads.
You will find that shock is a bear to compress. You will need a strap clamp to reinstall it (<$10 at H.Depot) due to the minimal clearance at top and bottom. I did mine last night only to find that the shock keeps popping off (due to a factory mislocated lower strut mount) when I close the lid.
I can't say if your '11 RXP has the same strut mount issue, I kinda doubt it, since there is a service bulletin out there somewhere. I'm beginning the hunt for that for my '07 RXT.
Once you have the strap clamp (wratchet type with strap only...no hooks) you will need to depress the shock approx 1" to enable the re-connect. You will need a small flat blade screwdriver to back off the c-clips at each end of the shock to allow the strut ball to enter the pocket. (A lot simpler than it sounds) For me I found it easier to
1. Remove Shock
2. Compress with wratchet strap (leave strap on during re install)
3. Mount top ball
4. Mount bottom ball (adjust compression as required)
5. Release strap
6. Test

Let us know how it worked out for ya
