Gas Gauge Question

Newbie here. Just got a Brand New SE 170. When the gauge gets to 1 bar left (out of 10 bars), it will take 10 gallons. Manual say 15 gallon tank. That math doesn't add up. Does the group think sending unit in the ski is bad? Thanks in advance.

Nope it does that intentionally, the idea is people will head back home when they see the gas is low. But for people that were paying attention or were further out than they thought can still get home with a few gallons on reserve.

Generally, when it beeps to indicate low fuel, you have 1/4 tank left.

I wondered kind of the same, I bought 2 x 2004 GTX 4Tec's yesterday and we filled the tanks. Spend a few hours on the lake today and neither moved any lower... stayed 100% full according to gauge. My guess was it wont start moving down until you are really getting lower? I figure we rode at 20-30% throttle around maybe 2 hours total. Clearly we used fuel, but just wondering since I dont think the gauges are like cars, showing accurate levels as it goes down. Am i wrong?

Neither gauge moved? Unusual, but sounds like you have a problem.

I'd add gas to see how much it takes to fill it up.

We took them out again today, not filling anything additional, and now the gas gauge went down two bars after another hour or so. So it seems they work, but just wasnt sure overall. We arent riding them at WOT, just toying around then lounging, etc. Maybe they work fine, just seems weird they didnt move at all after 3 hours of use, then dropped 2 bars after another hour.
