Hi everyone,
This is related to the post 300+ RXP 4 Tec, but I thought it would make a good thread by itself. Hopefully somebody will benefit from this or get some ideas on how to make it better.
I know someone is always building a better mouse trap so to speak, so if you have built some tools yourself, or have some input, please share!
As a certified backyard mechanic I've never believed in paying the high price on some tools, when it's something I can build myself!! Of course there are some things I have to buy.
I would like to share some of the tools I have built for this project as well as a few more I have down the road.
This is a cheap Harbor Freight engine stand I bought a long time ago, for a 2004 RXP engine I rebuilt. I modified the original engine plate to mount the engine but I didn't like it because I couldn't bolt up the exhaust manifold while on the stand, so I built this one especially for the RXP engine. I also needed the exhaust manifold mounted so I can set up the Turbo while on the stand. Cost around $60.00

Have you ever did a lot of work on a jet ski while it's on a trailer?? OUCH!! I have had so many bruises on my shins it's not even funny! So I built this jet ski stand this week.
For me this is so cool. No more bruising, I can roll it around in the garage. And it makes working on this project so much easier! It also breaks apart for storing. Cost about $70.00

Of course I had to have some way to get the jet ski off the trailer onto the stand so I had to build this.
It's a little rough yet and not finished,but it works great! Cost about $20.00

As you can see in this picture, the engine is in sad shape!! Salt water can do havoc to epoxy paint. Or anything as far as that goes!! The engine will be glass beaded and powder coated. The external parts of the engine like the head, exhaust manifold, valve cover, etc. will have to be bolted together to preserve the mating surfaces.
Glass beading can be very messy! I built this a couple of weeks back.
This blasting cabinet works great! I'm glad because it took a while to build!! Here is a sample of what it can do.
Cost around $50.00... and a lot of sweat!

Here is a picture of my powder coating gun. I've had this since 2002 and this thing has done a lot of colors!!! I like powder coating over painting because it's more durable and resists damage from chemicals. Plus you can do really cool colors!!!

I have a burnt valve, the main reason for the rebuild. For the love of me I couldn't see spending the kind of money they wanted for a valve compression tool, so I came up with this. Very simple to build, cheap and it works great! Cost $8.00
