FUSE

Hello I have a 1995 SPX with the 657X motor in the computor box on the half case that does NOT contain the starter solenoid there is an additional module. My question is on this additional module it has a place for a single fuse which is missing and I am unsure as to what size fuse should be in this spot. Also what is this additional module called and its function? Thanks in advance

Wanted to let you know I have determined that it is the VTS module and requires a 15amp fuse. Thanks for your willingness to help with this post and will look for you on the next issue I run into

Hi Jeremy I am having an issue with my 1995 SPXwith the 657X. It started with the start/stop button not respondingand while investigating the cause I found that the 5amp fuse in computer box was blown. When I would insert a new fuse it would that fuse as well so I unplugged the stator and the new fuse did not blow which led me to believe there was a short in the stator so I replaced it. when install of stator was completed I tried to start and there was still no response from the start button. I removed the computer box and checked the fuses again and the 5amp fuse was blown. I disconnected both the start/stop and non dess ignition button and replaced the fuse and it blew once again.I reconnected both the harnesses and unplugged the stator plug and it did not blow the fuse. I am thinking that perhaps the computer module has a internal short???? Also I jumped the starter solenoid and the ski turns over fine.

Unfortunately it sounds like your MPEM is fried. I would say someone probably tried to jump start it at some point and fried the diode...

You’ve got two options now. You can either replace the MPEM with a good used part, or you can roll the dice with a new aftermarket one. Westside Powersports keeps good tested units on the shelf, so I’d recommend using them before scouring eBay for a used one... The aftermarket ones have a bit of a bad rep on the forum, as there is a high rate of defective ones right out of the box. With that said, I have not personally had that experience, and I have an aftermarket MPEM from Arieltek in one of my skis now.
