97 xp.

fuel gauge always reads full and the oil light is always stuck on. (same gauge)

any ideas before i tear into it?

other gauges (speed, vts) work fine.

welll

The fuel Baffle is what picks up the gas level.

take it out and slide it side / side so the float goes up / down.

if it's busted it wont work, some people opt to fix them (google sea-doo fuel baffle fix) I personally just slapped a new one in there (I had same issue w/my 98 GTX and 02 XP).

As for the light, fill the oil tank. if it's full, then replace the sensor. the light is just a light, if u unplug the sensor it comes on...

I think i have an oil sensor from a '01 GTX, they may be the same, I could let it go for $30.00 free shipping to US 48 main.

let me know if you need it, I'll get a pic, make sure it's the right one.

I have an '02 XP, getting to the fuel baffle is... FUN ;)

I removed the plastic under the rear of the seat, got the shock boot off, then removed the 1 big bolt holding the shock to the hull, then, open the front, and u can swing the seat fully vertical, pop the rubber circle off, and get to the baffle, which sits at a 45 degree slant in the tank...

I marked all the hoses with small colored zip ties. (same color on baffle and hose)

BE SURE TO POP THE GAS CAP AND VENT THE TANK FIRST, BEFORE REMOVING ANY HOSES. Else you will shoot gasoline 2 feet vertically in your face (don't ask how I know).

I should have taken pictures, but hey; i was busy working... good luck.

Some times the magnets come out of the original float, and they may be stuck inside the pickup tube.

Only way to fix it is to pull the sender out, and look inside, but if you unplug the sender... the gauge should go to empty.

Sometimes, the oil light takes awhile to turn off once you put oil in the tank. But... pull the plug going to the sender, and short across the pins. The light should go out. If it doesn't... then the gauge could be bad.

Thanks alot guys. luckily I already have my seat off since I am putting new material on it. so im half way there!

And according to the previous owner the oil light has been on for over a year now.

SabrToothSqrl Ill let you know about that sensor after I look into it.

Thanks for the info.

well the oil light was just a bad sensor. no biggie i just spliced the wires and wired them together to get the light to shut off. ( i fill/check the tank before every ride so i know its not empty)

the fuel gauge on the other hand is confusing. it is reading full. so i pulled the baffle out, and the float was no longer floating. so i drained it and now it floats and its still reading full. the magnets are still in tact. so i checked the F1 fuse, removed it and soldered it like it says in the tutorial. and its still reading full. even tho i have a half tank.

if i unplug the gauge it reads no fuel, so i know the gauge is good.

im not to to worried about it since i do keep an eye on it. but if anyone has any other suggestions let me know.
