Fuel guage not working

Hey guys My 97 gsx is telling me that the fuel is low all the time and i know its full. the guage shows no bars even when its full and the red warning light is always blinking at me. I dont know what else to try to fix this all fuses are good i just dont get it. And also the vts only works "sometimes" one day it works good then the next it wont work at all. any suggestions are appreciated. Thank you

The fuel gauge could be one of two things most likely.....one your fuel baffle has filled with fuel and just needs to be replaced or the F1 fuse has blown in the sending unit....both of these are fairly easy to fix with the F1 fuse being the harder of the two but there is a tutorial on here to do it just do a search. The VTS on the seadoo's was always a temperamental beast, when I got mine it didn't work at all, I used the VTS fix to repair mine and it works great but its not for everyone. Just sounds like your module is on its way out.

Thanks for the reply, Yeah i figured that the vts module was probubly going but just thought id check. I am still confused on this fuel thing because it wont even show up on the guage at all its just a waring on the digital side but thanks and ill try the baffle

If you pull the sender unit out hook it up to a multimeter and set it to resistance......move the sender unit up and down and see if you get a reading between 0-88ohms, If you get this then the F1 fuse should be fine and you just need a new float.....if you don't get the 0-88ohms then you need to either do surgery to repair the F1 fuse or get a new sending unit.

I have found that the fuel gauge problem is almost always the fuel float, either the magnets have fallen out or it is full of fuel. Order a new molded style, it fits older ski's. Here's a link.
