First real test after purchase. I ran about 10 gallons a fuel through the ski with no issues at all. 1996 SPI recent purchase rebuilt carb replaced a few fuel lines, cleaned filter etc..... Got kinda ornery after I rebuilt the carb and did the line work. While it was running I switched the to reserve with no improvement in flow. Engine didn't quit but had to limp back to shore. Sat about 1/2 hour and went back out for 20 minutes or so with issues beginning again. Throttle position irrelevant no increase in RPM.

I'm thinking a plugged fuel valve or a vent issue. Something's up. Ideas ?? Plugs look good, burning good.

It stumbles after running hard then won't accelerate... If I back of the throttle for a bit and nail it... it jumps up and stumbles again.... won't accelerate.

Do I need to switch to a different micron fuel filter when I switch to premix ?? I pulled everything up front apart, cleaned the fuel tank, checked the tube thing for flow, disassembled the fuel valve, and verified the lines were connected properly.

Only thing I found was a clear thin film of something on the fuel filter. Wasn't water, more like greasy. This may have caused a flow restriction. I don't see any other issues up front. The very fine mesh has me concerned that the premix may be clogging the filter.

Is there something the limits RPM if the engine gets hot ?

Need to do is eliminate the selector switch and inline filter, and run a fuel line from "red" fitting off baffle, straight to carb.... Reason being, I've seen plenty of when out orings un filter or garbaged selector switches to pull ain't, this, eliminating, fuel delivery

While I am checking the lines I found the magnet came loose from the float. I found a float repair kit but it uses two magnets mine only has one or else i can't find the other one. LOL

I am still troubleshooting the fuel system making sure everything is AOK. I haven't found a smokin gun yet. I'm going all the way to the carb but want to get the fuel sending working properly if I can.

Help is always appreciated.

Well pulled the carb and disassembled.... found the new filter I just installed with a white coating on the screen. It was plugged up and the mesh was smaller than the filter I removed. I reinstalled the old filter, cleaned and reassembled the carb.

I am trying to figure out what would have caused this in less than 5 hours run time. I am premixing 40:1 with the synthetic, I used gas with ethanol but used and additive that is suppose to eliminate issues. My concern is that my filters are too fine a mesh for the premix. I'm pretty certain i ordered a Mikuni rebuild kit for the carb. I will check.

Always an adventure...

OK, I ordered a Venom Mikuni carb rebuild kit. That is what I installed. My concern when I purchased the kit was that it was genuine Mikuni... Oh well. Where do I get the Mikuni factory kit.

Get mine from Bay Area Powersports off eBay... That junk is from the selector switch, fuel lines and barb fittings off the carbs
