does it matter if the vent hose and fuel return hose are backwards?

Don't know, why don't you just put then where they are supposed to be.

oh I did, but my fuel gauge was showing empty and I was thinking that maybe the returning fuel was keeping my float down. Just curious.

Fuel Float

Hi Brad,

The fuel guage problem is most likely the fuel float. The old style is a solid float with corks in each end. It has probably sunk to the bottom of the baffel.

If this is the case get a new float. The new style is hollow plastic, a much improved design. I think seadoowarehouse.com has them or you could do an internet search.
