A few of us in the sunshine state are interested in scheduling a meetup for any of the extreme southerners who want to lug their seadoos to a location TBD, and hang out IRL for a change instead of just chatting on here . . . show off your doo, maybe a little racing, some shop talk, and definitely lots of tasty cold beverages (type and quantity at your own discretion!). I know I'd be bringing some of our latest batch of home brew

Any suggestions are most definitely welcome, and it's not limited to FL members - anyone who feels like traveling a ways would also be welcome. Nothing official, no entrance fees, just good times with laid-back fellow SeoDoo addicts . . .

<<< BREAKING NEWS UPDATE - THIS JUST IN >>>

I'm up for it ...I'd like to not be harrased by the local blue lights, I have a couple areas here in S.W Florida that are quiet and lots of trailer parking, that are state run. I think we need to have a committee to get it organized to pull it off. I will help if needed... First we need a location with Launch, Parking, hangout location with tables, Pavilions from the sun, cooking grills, fresh water rinse. I know of 2 state parks here as I said that can do it for us. LET"S GET IT DONE !

Karl

A grill and food is a must :) Any park near a few ramps would be an ideal location.

We need Input Folks!

I think we need input from the majority of doo er's going to attend to get a great location to keep travel time to a minimum with gas prices as they are.

Karl

It looks like you're pretty central between SE FL and the Tampa area Karl. What are the parks you mentioned? - I'll look them up on line to see if I can find some details, and post some Google Earth images maybe.

Greg, is there a way to take a poll on here, just to see if people would be interested? So far, it seems like only the 3 of us might be there lol. Fine by me, but the more the merrier obviously. If a lot of people in northern FL want to come, then maybe farther north in Tampa would be better.

Anyway, I dont mind organizing the event and coming up with a schedule, meeting times, etc., but I agree it would be good to get a lot of input from everyone that wants to attend.

We have a ton of Florida members getting there interest may be the problem though. I will set up a poll on here.

Craig, one launch site with a pavilion/ grill, parking, rest rooms, close to town for supplies, fuel(less than a 1/10 mile) is Indian Mound. The park is on right the ICW and has beach access for boats, by the picnic are. The launch is paved and lots of parking, even to launch my 26' cutty. It's located in Englewood in Sarasota County. It isn't very busy in the off winter months.
The next one is an island called Don Pedro, located in Charlotte County. It is only accessed by boat on the ICW, with state docks, Pavilion/grills, bathrooms, freshwater rinse and like 20 steps away is the gulf with about 5 miles of uncrowded beach for swimming( it's on a almost privet area), or pull your water craft on the beach. You need to launch to get in the ICW but there are like 5 public launches available to get in the water, I've used them all at one time or another. Give them a goggle and let me know what you think.

Karl

Here's a few google earth images of Indian Mound and what I think is Don Pedro Island. It's called Little Gasparilla Island, so maybe I have the wrong one. Indian Mound looks good, and if we can get a caravan together, it would be cool to tie up at some of the watering holes along the ICW for "refueling", and see what's around.. . . I'm up for pretty much anything

Here's a few others of a place called Ponce de Leon park over by Port Charlotte. Dont know what that's like, looks to be limited parking, but another option anyway.

Craig the parks in Port Charlotte, aren't too close to stores or any places for supplies, food, gas. I haven't been there myself, But I'll check it out and see what it's like. Yes, the Don Pedro island is also called Little Gasparilla island. It is close to Boca Grand, and has both state docks and short steps to the Gulf beach for swimming or beaching your seadoo. Not crowded at all as you need a boat to get to it.

This sounds like a great idea!!! Come on people, lets get this thing going... I bet we can get the forum to give out tee shirts or bumper stickers or something, if we can get it off the ground... Let's not be shy. I bet if the turn out is good it might be availiable around the state at different times of the year. :)

What's it gonna take to get a good member turn out? I also think it is a great idea to bring members together. Lets get a sign uplist...I'll keep track of the members attending.

dates?

Are there dates that work better for you guys? Either May 31st (saturday after memorial day) or June 14th are good days for me. The only one I can't do is June 7th, I'll be out of state.

official date

So it looks like the date we're setting is Saturday May 31st. I'm bringing home brew , Karl's got the location all set up . . . who's bringing hot girls in next-to-nothing bikinis?? :)

I got a call back from the local Hooters Wing House...they said if we get 10 or more members to sign up, they will supply the hot wings...Maybe get the girls to deliver them... WHAT THE HECK IS EVERYONE WAITING FOR!

Post your reply in this thread, and pm me or Craig (wildziner) to confirm with a phone # for the details.

now stop reading and go reply...go on...I'm waiting...:toetap05:

Karl

Karl is also giving away his 97 Challenger as a party favor to whoever shows up with the best looking bikini girls to go along for the rides . . .
