It looks like he may of been redoing it
As long as you bench test compression of engine and its good. Its just putting humpty dumpty back together.
Price seemed right for that type of project?

if the price is $450 "as is" with parts included its a steal, running or not... those things still hold value, certainly way more than $450 that's for dam sure.

I'm dam tempted just too lazy to make the drive so i'm talking myself out making the call because I really don't want to blow off an entire day running there and back.

I'm afraid to send you, last time you got a dam ticket !

Call him.
He said he was building motor to do tricks. Still on stock motor. Never been open?

Has pictures of disassembly. Sounded legit.

He's is WP. He may able to meet me if we ask.

I like that one for $450 just don't wanna have 2 humptys! I think by mid day tomorrow this 96 spx will be splashing down!

Actually, I just took my handlebar cover off yesterday to replace the UNDER starter button in the handle and the actual red button itself (that part can go in from top) and the handlebar cover is so sun damaged that it actually chunks off in sticky pieces if scratched, so I was wondering what a black hood/handlebar cover would look like with the green seat and green hull..
Looks pretty good I think!

There was always something about those Hondas that caught my attention, but now reading that, knowing that they are turbo'd with like 200 hp and this guy says "hits 65mph on glass water", doesn't impress me after reading the top speed thread where ppl are getting 57-59 mph out of a 96-97 xp's..
Anyone have thoughts on the honda? Good/bad?
A guy had one for sale for MONTHS across the street from me while I lived in the keys.. Wonder why

I own a R12X and I love the dam thing.. so much that my yamaha hasn't been off the trailer in 5 weeks, (and I have a kick azz yamaha)
The honda's are quiet, reliable (IF maintained) extremely fuel efficient (100 miles easy on a tank of gas). I used to make fun of them but then I rode my brothers and had one of my own 30 days later. Sold my seadoo to make room on the trailer...
so ya.. they don't suck.

with that said, the ECU's are prone to failure, and turbo's can be a real pest....especially if they spent a lot of time in the salt and didn't get properly flushed & sprayed with anti corrosion... but... no larger or smaller issue than other brands have with their quirks. The only thing I can say is ride one, and then make a decision after you've been on it.

ps... one of the better honda tech's around is right in St Pete... extremely helpful fella.

so then 60-65 MPH is a normal TOP speed for that craft? with the turbo? is it bc of the weight?

ya,,, 62ish is about right, its only a 1200 cc engine, not oversized, and only runs about 6.2K rpm at top speed, the low rpm is what helps their reliability IMO, not stressing the engine at all. you can boost them up if you want more speed and better top end, but honestly I've always felt that 62 was reasonable enough these days.

My 12x can just barely out hole shot my modded gp1300, but I can run it down after about 75 yds then its eating wake.

The F12X is more like a gtx type ski, 3 seater touring model but compares well against the Yamaha FXHO and the GTX SC's, the R12x is more like an xp in handling, I really don't think there, very nimble with a flat bottom, good jumper, the turbo lag takes some getting used to, but once you get the feel for it, its awesome.

Don't get me wrong, there is no comparison to the RXP 260's tho, IMO seadoo is far superior in performance and handling than anything out there and to compare the RXP and RXPX to any model is an insult. (some say the FZR is awesome but I've never had any seat time on one)

If you want a solid ride, a honda is a good choice, if you want a sick ride, the RXPX is the way to go.

ahh, I see...yea 62 is MORE than fast enough for me... I've just been trying to see if getting a ski with a supercharger or turbo has performance that outweighs the high cost of the ski, and the potential problems that accompany a charger, such as bad bearings, etc.

I may very well be able to solve the wanting a standup jetski problem....
I found a seadoo 3D for $1900. It allegedly runs great, etc, although the engine compartment looks to be a little on the dirty/neglected side.. What are you guys' thoughts on the 3D's? good/bad/indifferent?

hahahaahah I know..good thing is, it doesn't come with that, it only has the "dirtbike" poleseat. its an '05 btw

I would probably just stick with Yamaha or a Kawasaki as far as that goes. You can't beat a superjet or the reliability of an old Kawi
