Fully Restored 1996 Seadoo SPX Jetski Jet Ski AWESOME! L@@K! Sea Doo - $4500 (Clearwater)

© craigslist - Map data © OpenStreetMap
(google map) (yahoo map)

Ok up for Sale is a Fully Restored 1996 Seadoo SPX with trailer which has also been restored. Question: Do You Miss The Days When Jetski's Were Small And Nimble With a Ton of Power and Torque At Your Finger Tips?? All the New Skis are Large, Cumbersome and very Heavy and are No where near the fun of the Ski's from the 90's!. I am giving Some One or Family the opportunity to Buy a Jetski From The Past in Like New Condition!! This Seadoo has been completely taken apart and Restored Back to original Factory Spec. A Brand NEW VTS Housing and Motor has been installed, So the trim works like it did on day one! The List of New parts goes on and on. I take a complete inventory of what parts can be Restored and reused and what parts need to be replaced. Also only OEM Parts are used when available. For Example: The choke cable is no longer available for this ski and they do not make a replacement so I found a Brand New Seadoo cable on Ebay and paid $50 for it. That is just one example. Take a look at the pictures and ask any and all questions, Don't be fooled by the price, Hundreds of hours of work have been done on this ski. It has been hand assembled and Meticulously gone over to make sure everything works correctly. The Jet Pump has been Rebuilt, First it was disassembled and the Brass Pump Housing was bead blasted the then a New Wear Ring, Bearings and seals and a Brand New Stainless Steel Solas Impeller were installed and Finally the pump was filled to Spec with Seadoo Pump Oil! Call me and I will be more than happy to answer any and all questions about the restoration. I will be happy to allow a water test for Serious Buyers to try out the ski. Call Or Text (727) 657-7018

$4500 ? !!! holy bejezus... Its a really nice SPX, don't get me wrong, but I don't think it would fetch half that on a perfect day, maybe $1500 ?

Yeah that guy made some wrong decisions during his 96SPX "restore". Yellow handle bar pad? Purple seat and turf? He's gonna have to chop a couple grand off that asking price before he even gets to sit and wait and even hope for a call.

I want that 98. I'm sure it's gone by now. If mine had sold and I had that cash in my pocket....you know....I'd be driving!

I'm finding the pull of the XPL to very strong. OK maybe the "lure" because I still have never ridden one! I'd probably be trying to do something with this: http://mobile.craigslist.org/boa/4358948536.html

But there is no "deal" there though. A guy agreed to sell me a racer hull that is both beautiful and bad az$ looking. Carbon fiber is involved......hope it goes through. Probably a fool to post a pic before all the money is exchanged but I trust the guy's word.

I just can't resist sharing a little teaser of my upcoming baby. (hopefully)

Sweet! Where do you find this stuff man dang! Can't wait to see your plans for this one

Long live the 2 stroke Seadoo!

I talk about liking this stuff on the forums all the time and then it finds me.

That ski was bought for the engine and electronics by some fancy high powered stand up rider. He is after the engine and electronics. I can't afford the 148mm Magnum pump or the Coffman's pipe on it either. I will use my 951, pump and electrics

I've seen that style seat on a white and red xpl before, and also a shorter version. Although that looks to only have turf on it, the one I saw I think at least had a small amount of foam.

Yeah he was proud of that thing (understandably). It basically cost what the hull does. It's got a special shock to it also. I didn't want to break up the build. If I end up putting a lot of seat time on it and the lack of padding becomes unbearable then I'm sure it would sell quickly in the racing world.

These XPL's are still a relevant platform for going fast even by today's standards. For me I should be able to ride light chop without hopping everything the way an X4, GSX, and RXX does.

Matt, I will say that is what I love about my HX. It slices through the chop. We were riding in probably 1' or more chop (white caps) and it was amazing how it sliced through it. I turned back to check on my BIL and he was 20 to 30 boat lengths behind me standing up taking a beating on the XP, while I cruised at about 3/4 throttle sitting down, laughing.

had a similar experience yesterday, but it was a hell of a lot more than chop lol

me in my GP1300, BIL on Honda R12 in 2-4 ft heavy chop washbowl conditions in the ocean. The 3 RXP's in front of me (in front the whole dam time) were cutting through the waves a LOT better than my two ski's were, I was getting the chit beat out of me for 3 hours riding in the ocean and even the back waters had at least 18" chop the whole time. I was exhausted by the time we stopped for fuel and I called it a day right there, my bad knee was killing me.

I've only ridden the RXP's on flat water up to maybe 12" chop and of course they rode just fine but I've never had my butt on one in really rough conditions.

I was told they didn't handle waves well, and I guess it true but I can say this, if they don't handle them well, they certainly handle them better than my rides do ! The whole drive home I was contemplating putting my GP up for sale in a week or two and getting a more Ocean friendly ride, or to stay out of the Salt and stick to the rivers. I'm getting too old for the beating I took on Sunday. (the HX is not a solution for me at all though lol)

matt, I had the xpl for a few months before I swapped back to the X4, and that was one of the positives, the hull design on the xpl handled chop extremely well and bone stock still cruised easily around 60 to 62ish. but at the time, I was going from a Yami XL hull to the XPL and I was still fairly new to the whole PWC experience so I wanted to jump everything, and the XPL does NOT jump very well (certainly not compared to the X4) unless the waves are very vertical. Over time, and as I passed my mid 40's my tastes changed a bit from wanting to cut through the waves and not over them as before.

The XPL is well suited for most conditions, as long as jumping isn't your first priority. Actually my biggest complaint, which might seem weird, but it was bothersome to me, was that the storage bin is pretty much right on top of the engine, and gets quite warm, so my ham & cheese became a hot ham & cheese after a 45 minute cruise up the river, it would actually melt the cheese ! Cold beverages had to be put in an insulated bag with a cold pack or they quickly became warm beverages, and before I had that model, I could just toss a sammich and two cold drinks in a grocery bag and they'd be just fine, but after that, I had to switch to insulated bags or i'd be drinking hot beer.... :(

also, I still found it to be quite tippy when ideling or stopped, I've fallen off it before right at the dock when reaching out to grab a dock post, so it takes a little getting used to, its very sensitive to weight transfer, but thats a good thing when cruising/carving since you could just lean into the turns at speed and control your wider turns simply with weight and throttle control, and slide right through the turns. (stock sponsons , you might have a different experience with AM sponsons), I never tried the XPL with deeper hooks installed but I can imagine it would grip much better.
