About 30 mins away.

Unfortunately I just added a stand up to the fleet that needs a bunch of work.

Man, I could use the SPX for parts if nothing else.

Someone buy it while I sleep on it.

I think Adam wants you to snag it for him, not for you.

looks pretty good.

I think there's a resto or x4 related thread that discussed the "sumptuous purple" rattle can color for the exhaust pipes. (mine always get painted with the black hammer finish, but that's me)

I always felt that once the pipe is out and welded that a nice $2 coat of factory purple only takes a couple minutes and gives it that right out of the factory look. When doing my final detail I always used liberal doses of fluid film on the pump, and CRC on the engine to give it a little bit of shine too.

I guess its possible that it kept them from trying to lower my price $100 but in reality it probably didn't help much with the final price but they seemed to sell quicker. A really clean engine and fresh coat of paint on the pipe seemed to help my closing ratio (less time wasted on tire kickers) because my competition was ignoring that little aspect so my engines just look more reliable.

sounds like you've moved a lot of machines this year Matt, I'm happy for ya, keep up the good work !

Yeah I have painted many pipes but not this one. I was not gonna let it slow me down. I pulled a grand worth of goodies off this one (half sold already) and built it back stockish in three days. The engine was pulled and painted and the exhaust manifold has a fresh coat of yellow so there is plenty for a potential buyer to get excited about if he is into that sort of thing.

I wish I would have started counting the skis I've run through a long time ago. I'm pretty sure I've bought and sold more then any three people combined that have not owned large dealerships haha. Thanks for noticing.

At this point I think I'm gonna carry on with it but I get lazier and cheaper. I generally make low offers IF they bring it to me. That puts the potential tire trouble, cop pullovers, etc on them. Obviously If it's summertime or if I really want the ski I'll fight harder.

I'm honest about what I have and keep them priced reasonably. I screen my potential buyers to make sure they are not wasting any of my precious time. These days 9 out of 10 folks that make the drive out here go home with the ski they came to see. This time a year it takes a few weeks to find the one guy shopping though.

Yip, the winter slowdown, although as a buyer it allows you to be a bit more picky. ps.. I like your idea of ecu/pump swap on the xx, I think that's a very smart move.

re exhaust paint: I wasn't trying to be overly critical its just that my eyes were drawn to that so I threw it out there that it seems to work well as a value added.

Having trouble with this one. What do you guys think? It's pulling at me.... http://www.**************/forums/showthread.php?t=238767 oh yeah you have to fill in the green part I guess. Spim have you seen this?

re: st. Augustine... jesus maria and jose, that's a good package ! surprised its not worth the drive for you.

re: the RXP, ya I saw that but at $6K I thought I could do just a little better and not have to think about making a trip to Indiana....

Also, I have some issues with the older RXP's, mainly the fact that they really suck in chop, and my last two ski's really sucked in chop, so I was trying to go with X models basically 08+ ski's to avoid valve issues and not get something that struggles in anything over 2' wave action.

But make no mistake, that's a badazz river cruiser... but from conversations with some 4 stroke guru's (some we both know) many seem to wish they had stopped at stage 2.

Now.. that white GPRXP in panama city.. that thing would have been perfect for you. (and it might still be up for sale, if it is for sale next week I'm kind of planning on hanging a left when I hit the panhandle on the 12th and take a look, maybe talk trade with my RXTX. (which when i'm done with will be worth the same or maybe a little more)

this is a very general opinion when it comes to the 4techs and duly noted that i'm not s speed freak but for the most part I think stage 1 is pretty friggen awesome, stage 3 just takes things too far, too many adjustments and things that need looked at after every ride.., that's something you work up to, not start with.

I could get the stage 3 RXP for 5k or less but I would hire the drive out. Glad to hear about the struggle in chop, it's probably just like my RXX with a heavier and more powerful engine. I don't need it but thought it may be a steal since the stage 3 kit is over 5k by itself.

I have seen that one in PC but it just does not speak to me. Part of it's value is the stock OEM Yamaha look and that's my least favorite part. I like your idea about the trade good luck with that. Your into the RXT right and that may be a good way to swing it into something that's a better fit for you. If it does not work out and the guy gets ripe for a low cash offer strike then I may revisit it. It could always be painted and outfitted in RXX or XP800 graphics lol.

Your statement about value is spot on, there's certainly enough parts to justify the purchase, I just don't like the fail rate on the stage 3+, you need deep pockets, good luck, and experience to run that a full season. If random parts fail many replacements are expensive, if engine blows you have to overbuild to compensate for the mods.

Gotcha. Check out this guy's offering https://okaloosa.craigslist.org/boa/5279255166.html I can find this deal and cheaper anytime though, just not with that fresh of engine I guess. Still "rebuilt" can mean a lot of things. Tear down, gasket kit and rings or?...... I'm just "4-Tec curious" at this point.

yip, that's about right for what i'd consider an average deal for that model, but you can pay less and get more if your looking daily, as you would know from experience. At least I know I was able to accomplish that, but it took me about 5 weeks to find my deal.

(and It really wasn't what I was looking for specifically, but at that point I was ready to by a wave venture just to get back on the water)

So one of my XPs needs a top end so I can sell it when it warms back up (a story that I haven't put in my build thread yet). I was going to put the $400 in a top end, until I found this:

http://bham.craigslist.org/boa/5297644119.html

If the motor indeed checks out like he claims, that unit will be coming home with me Friday morning. The plan is yank the motor out and part the rest. Who needs some XP parts? LOL!
