Hi all,

I water flooded my 1996 XP ski and now it kills new batteres!

I mean "kills" it. I took the last battery into test at the shop and it had 1.9V or something very low. It was less than two months old. The guy said the voltage regulator could be fried by the flooding and over volting the battery. It occured in only a few minutes of run time while clearing the water from the cylinders.

Any guidance? How to check without killing another battery?

Thanks

Get a new battery. Disconnect the red wire from the regulator, and install the new battery. Make sure there isn't a drain. (use an AMP meter) then, reconnect the regulator. If you get a drain... the regulator is bad.

You said "flooded the Ski".
I would open the rear box, clear any water out, grease connectors/ions, same with grey box next to gas tank. I would loosen the front mount, wood block up under engine, open front Magnito cover and vacuumn that out, same with starter. Bill

Water intrusion always leaves its mark.:boxing_smiley:

I am having the same trouble with my 95 guts, i have swapped batteries many times. It will run on the water for about 20 min and then kill and then the battery doesn't have enough juice to turn it over. Any help?

Chase you need to get a volt meter and put it on the battery, then start it and rev it a little. You will see the voltage spike to 15-16 volts...that means your rectifier is shot. I have them for $25 shipped.
