Hi, I just purchased a 1992 xp with a rebuilt engine and a trailer for $500. This is my first boat of any kind. I know its old and slow, im just looking to get out onto the water. It was a one owner vessel. It came with a "Performance pipe" not installed, The guy said it adds 20 hp. Does that sound rigth? I live down here in naples florida. Hope to make new Seadoo friends. 3k03m33le5O55P65S89b33141c1e062801890.jpg

Welcome to the seadoo forum. That's a good starter machine. I'm sure your gonna have lots of fun on it. You might want to keep the stock pipe on it for now as it will take some fine tuning to make the pipe work properly. I would run it first to be sure it runs properly before you tinker with it. This is a friendly place with lots of active members eager to help out and answer any questions you might have.

slow is subjective - run down to your mailbox and realize that the fastest human is about 20... 20 in a car is slow.
20 on the water is fun.
cut a turn or jump a wake at 20 and have fun.

enjoy your machine

20 hp from a pipe? hmmmmmmmm??
maybe a magic pipe!!!
seems a little un-realalistic to me to get that kinda hp from a pipe
guys spend big money to get that kinda of hp gains!!
just ride and enjoy and have fun

Hey
I'm new here myself, don't listen to the dude with the 20hp pipe, he's selling you a pipe dream. And the noise isn't worth the very small hp gain not to mention the hassel of getting it to run right because you had to screw with the jets on the carb. The great thing about the older PWC's are the Shallow Hulls, they say they are more dangerous because you become un hooked in the water and its true they do but if you know that and that is what you get used to then they are the most fun to drive and I'm not kidding. You can have more fun doing spin outs on the machine you just purchased than dude can on his new anything.....

Thanks everyone! Yea i'm going to keep it stock and enjoy it on the water as is. How do you do 180's or 360's with out flying off? Just go fast and turn the bars?

Hold on tight, you'll get the techique. Just do yourself a favor and be off shore when you start to ride, and remember that ski will not turn without throttle, its not like a boat. Get off shore a good ways and be prepared to get wet, also you need to find out which direction to turn the ski to get it upright in the water, the wrong way will cause it to injest water into the engine...

92 xp

Hey we just bought a 92 xp as a starter boat to learn on (May 10). Have already had a ball on it any good lessons learned.

Look on the back of the hull for the flip over direction, every one of these I seen has a helpful sticker there somewhere - I completely agree with SGT to go out and get comfy with the turning power needed to actually turn, then when your arms get stronger you will be able to ride uphill into the air but for now mark the oil tank to make sure it is drinking so you do not kill that motor.

yae yae boys gotta boat.... dude your gonna be on the water all ur lil homies are gonna be like i wish i had a doo, especailly when they see all the drunk naked chicks piling into your truck... their gonna be like damn.... gonna be so much fun no matter how you look at it.... try this out too... throw a tent in the truck hook up the doo on a friday night and camp on/near the water, way fun, to wake up and ride... good luck have a blast!
