I'm looking to purchase my first PWC. I have done extensive preliminary research, (price quoted through insurance providers, read various model specs and info, etc) but would appreciate the advice of experienced owners. I initially intended to purchase New, simply because I was afraid of buying a Used PWC. I am not mechanically experienced with cars or boats. If something happens that is complicated, I will most likely have to get it fixed by a mechanic.
After further research, it does not seem fiscally possible at this time for me to buy new, and I have begun to look into used PWC's. I have read through the forums, such as: http://www.seadooforum.com/showthread.php?t=134
looking at all tips to protect myself. I will be using the Waverunner for myself and friends down at my shore house in NJ. I intend to use it for pulling tubes, and riding with multiple riders at a time. I'm looking to buy a PWC at a price of $3,000 - $5,000, and hesitant to buy anything with much more than 50 hours. The Sea Doo 2007 GTI is one of the models that caught my eye. While buying from a dealer would be preferred, the best deals appear to be coming from Private Sellers. I have emailed sellers requesting to test drive the PWCs, but I don't feel I will know what to look for in engine corrosion or damage, or what a damaged engine would sound like. Also not familiar with the required steps for winterizing a PWC, and how to ensure this was done properly by the previous owner. Any and all advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
