Well, Ive got my first two seadoo's registered and all set up and ready to go. Looks like well be goin out for a break in run tomorrow, weather permitting.

I just want to make sure I get this right. One is a 2010 RXP-X and the other is a 2010 RXT-X.

So, I know we should vary the speed constantly and not really push the boats very much, especially not early on. At first, the boats should be warmed up for like 5 minuets before getting on plane. Then for the first hour or so, take it eazy, keeping it under like 4-5000 rpm. For the first two hours, vary throttle, stay below 5000rpm, max 2/3 throttle. Then is a cool-down necessary to "destresses the block"? Anyway, after 3-4 hours of the same thing, (so hour 5ish) accelerating is ok, but then let it come back down to 5000... and repeat hour 6, floored for less than 10 seconds? hour 7, floored less than 30 seconds... then hour 8-9 same deal, STILL varying throttle. After hour 10, do the 10 hour inspection/oil change and what not.

So, lets recap what I THINK Im supposed to do:
*Let boat warm up for 5 mins/before on plain.
*Vary Throttle at all time
1. <4000-5000 rpm
2. <5000 rpm, <2/3rds throttle
*Cool down? (This is a part I need clarification on especially)
3. <5000 rpm, <2/3rds throttle
4. <5000 rpm, <2/3rds throttle
5. Acceleration >5000 is OK for short times, but then let it come back down.
6. Floored for <10 seconds
7. Floored for <30 seconds
And then after 10... inspection and all.

So, Im I missing anything? Will taking it eazy and slow be more beneficial, or will a good pace and acceleration (especially later) be fine?

Thanks for putting up with me (so far!) I just think that If I get this right now it will be nice later.

Thanks!

PS: Im also glad I found an actually active Sea-Doo Forum!

Everyone has their own method for break-in. Personally, I do the hard break in method.

With the method you are going to use... the "Let it cool" thing is known an heat cycling. Some engine builders don't worry too much about time... they just want to heat cycle the engine to seat the parts.

When I build an engine... I will run it just long enough to check for leaks, and to make sure I have oil pressure. Then, I will go out and have a few full throttle blasts, followed by a off throttle deceleration. (3 or 4 times) This method putts the most stress on the rings, and forces them to seat, and seal properly.

The next step depends on what the engine is going to do. If it's a race engine... it gets hammered on. If its a recreation engine... it will get used in a relaxed manor.

The method the book is best for a long life... but it's not best for peak power.

I know I probably confused you more than helping... but when it comes down to it... go out, and enjoy your new skis... just don't hammer on them.

It went great! :hat:

Weather was PERFECT IMO. ~80*F air, mostly sunny, ~60*F Water. Maybe not great for tubing or swimming, but wonderful for cool running engines.

on the RXT-X we got some error code, p1658 to be exact, and after some middle of the lake iphone and blackberry-ing, we figured it was "
Faulty DESS Key Communication" (tried both keys) and just drove through on it. Well be contacting the dealer.

Launching went very well, no problems except the RXT-X didnt want to start, but then we were good.

They both drive amazingly, but I gotta say RXP-X > RXT-X :reddevil:

Followed my first post pretty closely, I think. We may have not been vairing throttle quite enough once we were allowed 5k rpm in the second hour lol.

We <meaning I> used the learning key in the second hour especially because it limited me to 5200 rpm, so I could do some 2/3 hole-shots (finger around the handle keeps the throttle form going much past 2/3rds) w/o going to high on the engine speed.

Only part of our day that could use some improvement was getting the boats back up on the trailer. On the RXT-X I was able to use its electronic F-N-R pretty smoothly and then wintch it the last like 3 inches. The RXP-X, however, that I wasnt driving (lol) was a bit different. We could just get it kinda close and then we lined it up and basicly winched it the whole way up. Oh well.... Nobody was around, it was about 6:30, everybody and thing was safe and all is well that ends well. We have like no experience with trailers so I think we did ok. We even went through the drivethrough at MCDonnalds lol.

Im looking forward to hours 3 and 4, but especially getting this break in done so we can have some real fun!

dunk the trailers to get bunks wet, then pull foward so top of fenders are out of water by 2-3 inches....congrats on purchases.
