So I figured I would go for a ride and ya what was I thinking I should have fun,
I warm it up and roll out going through the water skiing cores and did fine
so off we go for about 300 yards when the power loss happens into limp mode
and I yank the seat thinking filling with water again and she's full of smoke,
didn't smell electrical but it was back in muffler area,
after the sinking I found chunks of aluminum in the muffler I did shorten my water box/muffler 4 inches
and hole sawed holes
think Ill find a another one,
nothing worse then an unreliable machine.

It's unreliable b/c now the waterbox leaks exhaust into the hull, right?

Ya really Red,
talked to I think Steve at PPG
that's where I did what he said to do
and modified the water box,
all other mods I found here all bolt on no problem with them,
I didn't sink my ski I am on the receiving end of the after math.

when the kid sank it I found out 4 days later that bells and whistles were going off
on it they never shut it down, then I find the strap that holds the water box down is
melted in half along with heavy melted rubber around that,
that's when I found the chunks of aluminum witch I think by hole sawing holes
as prescribed that weakened the structure far enough that vibration is tearing it up,

Would love to hear about your water box mod. And also why exactly you were told to do it. If memory serves...in the beginning, you got a lousy x wheel. Hoped it was okay...but it wasn't, slip was off or somethin. Then a trusted minor was solely responsible for sinking your ski...failing to observe proper procedure...then not even bothering to tell you what the fck was up.

Now you get to pick up the pieces...as they decide to fall...in groups or one ata time.

But seriously...can't exactly blame the ski for these......events.

Right about the SC,
bought it with 12 hours on it as was said on ebay bolted it in the hole
cant go wrong there and it touched down when I asked for a refund
he tells me 56 hours what can I do with that?
the water box cut 4 inches off the back and drill 3 --1-1/2 holes in the baffle
and weld her back up--getting rid of back pressure.
I don't lay in bed dreaming shit up to try and whine,
in fact im not whining, letting people no what happened maybe they have had this problem.
one good thing the motor is liquid cooled and that is ok
and when she runs it runs ok, smoke came right at water box.

If memory serves...the biggest reason for doing the wb mod...when it first came out...was to allow the sc to be removed without having to remove or disconnect the exhaust system. All the internal holes ect to ease back pressure...were(by some) later deemed unnecessary. Seems back pressure is a somewhat needed item when making hp.

Reading the stories...good or bad...is how I learned to hunt. Wind...camo....stands....scents.....habits...sign.....rub lines...scrapes....ect...ect...ect. I love it. It runs through my mind all the time when I'm sitting in stand. The same holds true for wrenchin on my ski. When I'm out on the water..in my garage...if I'm chasing down this or that....memory is being wracked for every tidbit I can recall.

In short....keep all the info coming...it may not be useful for all...but someone out there is being guided by our misfortunes...as well as our successes.

your absolutely right Red,
when I hear something I always check from other areas
to see if its valid before doing it,
I don't no how much back pressure is needed because they are pressurized,
threw hull exhaust is reduction of back pressure
I will get it worked out--to much fun not to!!!
