figure 8's one long beep

Hello ,

The other day a friend and I were out on the lake He was ridding my 09 GTX 215 and I was having a go of his Yamaha FX SHO.
He was doing Figure 8's on the GTX when it started to continually beep. I pulled up and told him to switch it off straight away. He did and I told him to stop doing Figure 8's and for the rest of the day it was fine. I have contacted the dealer I bought it from and he says that all should be fine and that if no warnings came up on the dash, which they didn't, that a sensor is basically telling you to stop what you're doing before things start to break.

Has anyone had this problem with Figure8's before??

long beep is an "Overheat" situation.


Check and bleed the cooling system.

So... perhaps the repeated figure 8's were putting a constant strain on the engine and caused it to overheat? It's probably a reproduceable problem, and just something one shouldn't do for too long (the repeated figure 8's, that is).

I wonder if the Yamaha would have started to overheat if it was put into continual figure 8's also?

Thanks for the replies guys.
Just a follow up. Took the ski out for a ride on Saturday and it was fine.
After reading the Manual, I noticed that it says that warning beeps occur and the intermidiate ones are silenced after you disconnect or reconnect the lanyard. In my case this is what happened.
With a more serious problem the beep is also accompanied by a dash display message from the ecu which relates to a potetially more serious problem.
I ran this by the dealer and they confirmed this. However they are still puzzled that the ski beeped when doing figure 8's as they claim they do them all the time on their demo models without beeping.
As far as I'm concerned I'll just limit the amount of tight Figure 8's I do. Doing them continuously makes me want to throw up anyhow.
