Ok, I have one ski running while I wait for a carb kit for the other. I fired it up, turned on the water and leaned over to check out my success. Nope, found a new problem.

This is a 97 GTI so looking at the head a water line connects from the front to the big curved pipe. A tee fitting in the middle of that water line has a smaller line connected to a different fitting on the big pipe. That little line is split along its whole length.

So I have 2 questions:
What would cause that, dry rot, chemical damage, wimpy hose or just too much pressure on the garden hose at some point?
What type of hose is that supposed to be and what size is it? Thanks for reading all of this and helping.

You don't have any pressure on the garden hose. There are more outlets than water volume. When you are on the lake... you build A LOT of pressure.

If it's just one of the cooling hoses... you can use any kind of hose you want.

As far as why it split.... who knows. It's a 15 year old ski, and you don't know what the last owners did to it.
