I have a 1996 SeaDoo Challenger. There has been excessive oil pouring into one cylinder of the engine keeping it from even starting. I have got the engine takin apart but have not been able to locate any potential probs. Is this something as simple as a bad gasket or does it have to do with the oil injection? Any thoughts???

It's coming threw the rotary valve seal.

Don't worry about it, and change the plugs once in a while.

Yeah what Doc says is prolly it. If it is just when it sits, it is the rotary seals. IF it happens all the time, you are looking at crank seals.

I missed your addition on this Phildoo. If the rotary valve allows oil to even seep through, it will fill the chamber enough to keep it from starting if it sits long enough. If you get the oil out it will usually start. You can try to suck it out with a pump or shop vac or you can put rags over the holes with the plugs out and just crank it over a little at a time.

Thanks for the info! Sounds like we have a VERY bad rotary valve because we can clean out the chamber completely and when we try to start it, it instantly fills back up with oil.

That much oil isn a rotary valve. Its a crank seal leaking.

We took a different approach. After some more work we realized that we were going to have to replace the pistons, rings, crankseals,........i think you get the idea. So it was cost effecient to just buy a rebuilt engine. After many long hours we got everything put back together but now when we put the key on its just a continuous beep and an oil light on. There is oil but i figured that light was due to us removing the oil pump and putting a block on it. The engine did allow us to start it but the beep doesnt stop. Any thoughts?
