Pursuant to my previous post, I see the driveshaft on each end of the 1997 GSI has two rubber stoppers. One was loose and had become deformed and was blocking the shaft from going all the way into the rear of the PTO causing a lockup when the jet pump was tightened up. My question is are these stoppers really necessary or may they be discarded? Thanks sincerely,
