Sorry guys I didn't have time to search. My question is about the oring that holds the stainless ring on driveshaft. I know on later model skis they don't use the o ring anymore and use a stainless c clip. If the current setup uses an o ring can I use metal c clip instead?

I have never had one in my hand, but my thoughts are,,, If the O-ring i the same diameter as the C-clip, then I would think yes. The clip, o-ring, as I understand it, basically stop the collar from sliding.

So, if things are the same size, logic's are saying yes. I also feel there is little pressure in this area so either item will take the load.

Again,,, I have NOT had this setup in my hands. I am just going with a logical thought process based on understanding how it works.

I could have sworn that I saw somewhere that this was an upgrade to make the stainless ring and carbon ring more reliable. I'm not sure. I have never had one in my hand either so not 100 percent sure. Thanks for quick reply!

Here's the clip you're in search of. Only way to fly Bro!

simple answer is YES, the circlip supersedes the o-ring part number. most of the o-rings dried up and went to pieces causing cavitation and carbon seal leaks, plus they required removing the pump to replace. terrible idea to save a couple cents per ski.

If you can't get the clip and or your pump is removed, then go with the O-ring so you can use the ski while there is SOME season left..

Get the clip so you have it.. You KNOW you will NEVER need it if you buy it,, LOL

yeah if you can make it work now with an o-ring, do it, then when you get a clip you can just roll the o-ring out of the groove and put the circlip in. then cut the o-ring off if you want.

On my last ride a guys xp blew it past the o ring twice almost to the point of water ingestion both times. Back in 96 mine blew right after I put on an intake grate. For me I wouldn't ride a ski unless the clip was installed, it's not worth the risk. If you've never had one blow off it's easy to say ride it, it might last a life time, might not. I'm sure you're dealer has them in stock, if not I do, as well as the neoprene seal and could have them to you in 2 days. Things for inventory.
