I just replaced the motor in my sportster. I got it yesterday and spent this morning putting it back in the boat. I hooked up everything and double checked all hoses and threw in a fresh battery and it started right up on the trailer and on the hose. (It sounds and starts sooooo much better than before). As I was checking everything while its running I noticed the driveshaft bearing is very hot to the touch after only a few seconds. I let it cool down and started it back up and the same result. I know this is cooled by the water when its in water but should it get so hot after about 10 seconds of running?? My first guess was the alignment since I did not use an alignment tool but I used the same motor mounts and shims in the same locations and it visually appears to be aligned. Any other ideas or is this simply supposed to be hot when not in water?
