hi,spring just started over here in New Zealand,so got my sp 96 out after 6 month ,after riding it for 10 minute the alarm went off (overheating), unplugged the hose coming from the pump ,pressure was good,so i thought should be something in water lines some where,.i decide to pull the whole engine out, it needs new spray paint any way,i drop the engine for sandblasting to day, wondering which sort of cleaner or remover i can use for take any corrosion out? and what els you guys reckon should i do while every thing is apart, cleaning and maintenance? thanks in advance

Spray the whole inside down good with a good degreaser and scrub it good. Take the chance to replace any hoses that look worn or bad.

replace temp sensor

not off subject, but you could've just disconnected the wire going to the temp sensor, since that part, was the issue

The hose fitting at hull exhaust pipe is a restrictor fitting and collects tar crud. Pull that hose off and Drill it out with a 9/32" drill bit. Recommend you pull your other
hoses off one at a time and use a wire to clear crud and air-chuck fittings and hoses. Check your Jetpump, three holes in venturi, and the wear ring clearance.
.007 is good, .040 is bad. Change the bearing oil in cone.

Actually i was looking at exhaust to day, there was some small bit of salt built up on the exhaust and as i tried to clean that up the screw driver went trough and i find a 10mm hole there.so i thought before weld it up better to find right detergent to remove all those salt from all cooling system, what do you think is the best detergent?thanks

There are four weld knubs on the tuned pipe that rot internally and need to be
re-Tig welded at 12-15 years old.

thanks for that,i fund 3 more of them close to the surface ,so i did grind all 4 of them a little bit to get rid of sediment, and make it ready for welding,im steel looking for something to wash the sediment away from inside the exhaust and all water lines,is there any thing that you guys can recommend?thanks a lot , sorry for my poor English i hope you guys can understand my comments.

We recommend you replace the fuel selector valve, or clean, drill out the crud in the
three tubes. Some valves have a screw that you can take it apart and replace the
internal 0-ring. If you have grey TEMPO fuel lines, replace them. Goodyear rubber
products - red stripe USCG approved 20' x 1/4"id is Best, but NAPA black fuel line
is good also. Rebuild the carb, or have a pro do it. Measure the RV cover clearance
and machine the cover if out of spec. This will ensure quick starting and longer starter life. Take starter apart and clean, replace the electrical brushes if worn.
I really like the '96 SP, its a gas sipper and a good ride!

Replaced the fuel valve, lines and rebuild the carb last season.
what do you guys think if i galvanize the tray underneath the engine and which sort of check out and maintenance i can do for the oil pump also how can i clean out corrosions from inside the exhaust and water line around the cylinder? thanks
