i have a 1997 seadoo got it out of storage been there for 4 years. older kids biger and younger ones ready to enjoy the lake. i got the seadoo running went on a house bout only for it to die the first day. returnd home and worked on it again. i purched a new dess key and hade it programed at the dealer it worked that day. i think i have a bad post. the center tap on the post has cont to the white/black wire and ring has cont to the black wire. when i put the key on i do not get cont between the black and black/red. :confused::confused:

Here is some information on the dess post;Safety Lanyard Switch Verification;
If 2 short beeps are not heard when installing the safety lanyard, disconnect the switch wires.
Safety lanyard removed;
connect the test probes to switch Black and Black/Yellow wires. It’s an open circuit, there should be no continuity.
Connect one test probe to the White/Gray wire and the other test probe to the switch terminal. Measure resistance, it should be “0” ohm. Connect one test probe to the Black wire and the other test probe to the switch ring. Measure resistance, it must be close to “0” ohm.
Safety lanyard on switch; connect the probes to switch Black and Black /Yellow wires. Measure resistance, it must be “0” ohm.

first off im not a big electrical wiz so please keep that in mind. i am having this problem with the the boat just randomly shutting down rather moving or not and have done ALOT of searching on here and came down to the DESS post. just pulled it out and check the ohm's and heres what i got.

white wire to center terminal-0.2 ohm
black to side ring-0.2 ohm
lanyard attached-black to black/yellow-0.04 ohm.

i see you posted must be "0" ohms...but is zero actually zero...or is 0.2 and 0.4 close enough?

please help im pulling all of my hair out.
