The 07 is brand new at the dealership, the 180 is the 255hp version in blue. Both around the same $ (30k CDN). I've read about the supercharger additional maintenance vs twin 155 motors but would like a more accurate comparison from all who are in the know..
Use would be primarily cruising with the occasional burst in speed to rattle the guests.
I've read some rough comments on the 205 utopia..build quality etc - is this why they discontinued it? Can't afford the 210, although it is my fave!

Any help is appreciated, thanks!

My vote is for the 205. Twin motors, more room, ride better. The Utopia is an older design for Seadoo. It dates back to almost the early 2000. The Challenger 210 is a great boat. If the Utopia was an issue, BRP would not have had it as long as they had.

I'm with Jim! Utopia 205 for several reasons.

1) Twin engines handle better. I've owned both boats and low speed manuevering on the Utopia was far superior.

2) Twin engine boats will be affected less if a wear ring or impeller loses efficiency. On a single engine if you lose 20% efficiency you'll really feel it in performance. If you lose 20% efficiency on one of your twin engines you may or may not notice it.

3) The Utopia overall size does offer a better ride and a little more room.

4) No issues with supercharger maintenance on the Utopia 205(310hp Package).

5) The Challenger 180 seems to be more high strung than the Utopia 205. It was a much louder experience overall than the more relaxed Utopia 205.

and now for the cons 205 + 180

1. Double the engines, double the maintenance potential/headache.

2. The 205 is a bigger boat, potential storage issues.

3. I've had no issues with low speed maneuvering of the 180. Takes a bit of practice.

That's about it though. That said, you probable won't regret the extra foot or 2 of the 205 in the long run.
