Sort of.

I don't think SeaDoo has it... but Morris cable made them for Teleflex, who sold them to BRP. I would pull the cable, and either get one from Teleflex, or from Morris.

Thanx Doc. I'll start lookin at them for a replacement. Good thing you can manually raise the gate and keep on truckin. It's the slowing down part that didn't work our so well..
Haha.. Ugh..

I can check on these from our parts warehouse if you like. Let me know.

Yea. Let me know HF..pretty sure it's the cable. Haven't torn it apart yet but pretty positive.

Hey Phildoo,

I broke mine last year, was able to order from BRP dealer, wasn't cheap (round 178.00) if i remember correctly. One of those parts you gotta have.

Broke both of my cables last year had to purchase two of the same cables b.c. Seadoo is notorious for discontinuing parts. Good luck man hope you find the parts.

Weird??

I don't think the BRP dealer network shares stock with parts across the border, I play hockey with a few BRP techs, had them check the stock of the shift cable, they don't keep it on the shelf but their database shows 6 in stock and they can still get it up here via BRP.

Phildoo if your stuck let me know I'll find out for if you they'll ship it down to you (can't see why they wouldn't). This is the second time I've heard of this, late last year I tried to order a windscreen for my speedster via the parts link on this site. I got an email from them saying this was discontinued. I was able to order up here through brp dealer??

Broke the cable on my 98 sportster last year. Couldn't find a US dealer with it in stock, but they were able to get it from BRP directly. I think it took about 2 weeks to arrive at my door.

Well, after a week of try'n, i gave in, and needed to buy a new steering cable (97 challenger 1800). Upon search'n, it was then discovered that this particular cable has become OBSOLETE..:boxing_smiley: With numerous phone calls to different places, with absolutely no luck, stumbled on a place, that directed me to there vendor/supplier. With nuth'n to lose, went over there, boat in hand, and proceeded to show this company my problem.
Upon inspect'nw/ him, seems that, Seadoo used, whats called double-bulkhead design, inwhich, the "transom" used 11/16 fitting and "helm/steering" side, used 5/8 fitting. Problem with that, is the fittings that are required to work, cannot be used for "aftermarket" cable, since this companys' fittings use 11/16 for particular outer cable, and 5/8 for another size outer diameter cable. Along with this, when using 11/16 fittings, it excepts 5/16 dia. inner cable, where 5/8 fittings accommidate 1/4in dia inner cable. With this finding, on legal/safety, I was unable to sway'm into using 1/4in cable, thus no problem with 'helm" side, but not case...
So, with not much left to go by, ended up make'n cable, w/ 5/16 inner dia., and for everything to work, used whats called a "clamp" fitting on steering side.
Left original cable with him, few hrs later, had new cable in hand, woke up this morn'n, after re-clean'n carbs, decided now to install the cable. Low and behold, the darn MOFO fit like a glove, used same hard-ware, what came with boat, and now, after stop'n at DMV for paperwork/stickers, TRUK'N to lake, and rip this bad-boy around..(hopefully silicones' all sealed)

If anyone has this problem, place is called...Control Cables, 9816 Alburtis Ave..Sante Fe Springs, CA 90670...562-949-0455 ask for Vic

came across this for someone else.
Worth a try. Send them yours

Thanx guys. I got super lucky!!!.. The plastic piece in between the aluminum bracket popped out. I removed it and flipped it over. It has a slight warp to it due to age.
