Well, after a week of try'n, i gave in, and needed to buy a new steering cable (97 challenger 1800). Upon search'n, it was then discovered that this particular cable has become OBSOLETE..:boxing_smiley: With numerous phone calls to different places, with absolutely no luck, stumbled on a place, that directed me to there vendor/supplier. With nuth'n to lose, went over there, boat in hand, and proceeded to show this company my problem.
Upon inspect'nw/ him, seems that, Seadoo used, whats called double-bulkhead design, inwhich, the "transom" used 11/16 fitting and "helm/steering" side, used 5/8 fitting. Problem with that, is the fittings that are required to work, cannot be used for "aftermarket" cable, since this companys' fittings use 11/16 for particular outer cable, and 5/8 for another size outer diameter cable. Along with this, when using 11/16 fittings, it excepts 5/16 dia. inner cable, where 5/8 fittings accommidate 1/4in dia inner cable. With this finding, on legal/safety, I was unable to sway'm into using 1/4in cable, thus no problem with 'helm" side, but not case...
So, with not much left to go by, ended up make'n cable, w/ 5/16 inner dia., and for everything to work, used whats called a "clamp" fitting on steering side.
Left original cable with him, few hrs later, had new cable in hand, woke up this morn'n, after re-clean'n carbs, decided now to install the cable. Low and behold, the darn MOFO fit like a glove, used same hard-ware, what came with boat, and now, after stop'n at DMV for paperwork/stickers, TRUK'N to lake, and rip this bad-boy around..(hopefully silicones' all sealed)
