It's great to see some honesty out there on Craigslist.

Buddy just cause you got a slamming deal does not make that one over priced imo. That's a hugely popular model and they sell easy for 25-3 when the look and run well.

haha that sounds provocative but his name is Seadoobuddy

Yeah I can't believe he tried to pass it off as "a little front end issue" or that it happened in the first place. Normally you have to get a little further into the country to see contraptions like that.

Yea that trailer is designed for a 1991 Sp... I don't think the combined tire weight rating adds up to that cruise ship they put on it

So this GTI showed up today. Texted the guy and asked if the engine cranked but won't start or if it is completely dead. Response: completely dead. Then I said, well I guess there's really no way to run a compression test. No Response to that. I have to wonder if some of these guys deliberately disable the starting system so that it is not easy to run a compression test. The last one I looked at that was a no start I found what appeard to be an MPEM fuse in the storage bin

Just toss a battery in it take a pair of pliers and open up the ebox and jump the solenoid. Then do your comp test. That's is, you don't need anything else in the system to work.

Thanks Racerxxx.

I thought about doing that, provided the present owner would agree to me taking things apart to do it. If he wouldn't then I'd walk away. As far as anything else working, it's a given that the carbs would need rebuilt, most likely fuel lines replaced. I wouldn't know if the MPEM and other electronics were any good until I really started playing with it. I just wouldn't want to have to replace both the MPEM and the engine. I don't feel the ski is worth that much of an investment. I think I'll just sit tight for a bit and see if he moves it or not. Frankly, I'd rather have a 97 GTX anyway.

It's a pig and a poke (if that's the saying) on the non running stuff. Assume the worst, that way when it runs for dirt cheap your over joyed.

In my continual efforts at attaining technical accuracy ....

You may be meaning to say the old saying to "never buy a pig in a poke" indicating you would not buy the pig in a bag without looking at it.

Of course your version adds another dimension kinda indicating you bought a "pig" and additionally got a "poke" in the eye.

Maybe your newer version is more appropriate here
