comparing pitch on impellers

I'm just in the process of buying a new solas impeller for my 1994 GTS. They are listed as a 14/19 and a 15/20 what are the pros and cons of each pitch? Does it really matter?

One will pop you out of the hole a little faster, and have what feels like better pull, but you will lose a little off the top end speed.

The other will be a little slower out of the hole and feel a little more sluggish, but will have a higher top end speed.

Talk to the salesman and tell him what you use it for and he will help you figure out which one to choose.

I'm actually looking at them on ebay. Theres a Solas 15/20 for $38 right now and a 14/19 for $120. The 14 will pull harder on acceleration? What i plan to use the ski for is generally messing around on the water jumping waves etc. Maybe the odd time pulling a tube but i doubt it. Usually with 2-3 people riding on it. Odd time 1 person.

Impellers...

Be careful on how much you pay for and what your trying to do. It's so easy to miss the setup match for the engine and pump.

Your model came stock with the 14/20, 140mm impeller. The Solas you point out might give you a bit more top end but may slow or bog on start. Depends on how well your motor holding up after the years.

The 14/19, you'll probably not feel much difference in. If so, it'l be a bit more power on the lower end. No real big noticeable difference on the upper end. Maybe a one of two MPH...

Thanks snipe. I'm rebuilding both the pump and whole motor. Also adding westcoast exhuast, head and flame arrestors.

You can still call solas and ask how each would affect your ride and how your ski performs. Their customer support is free.

The additional info paints a different picture. With that kind of modding, you should actually be able to cut a higher degree pitch. The mods will give it enough torque for additional performace.

I do agree with Scooper though, calling Solas. There are best qualified to tell you what kind of pitch would work best. I bought the Concord last year for my GTX. I ordered one by mistake that was too deep and they told me to send it back. They changed it out free of charge, after calling their support line. So, I do agree with Scooper.....
