I don't think I would use these on fuel lines, too hard to remove, but it would be great for the pto boot, maybe even the carbon seal bellows.

Oetiker clamps are completely stainless, used extensively by Bombardier, more leak-free due to even application all the way round, won't cut into hoses, much stronger than zips, and much cheaper if you buy from the right places.

I know Seadoo charges way to much for their oetiker clamps, but look to the beverage or beer industry for much cheaper pricing.
Common Seadoo sizes are 13.3, 15.7, and 18.5mm. For example:

Or, kegkits.com. It's funny how the home beer brewing suppliers can sell these clamps for about $0.30 each, yet Bombardier charges $3 to $6 for them.

The drawbacks are you need a special tool (about $18), the clamps are more difficult to remove, and you shouldn't really re-use them.
However, even though I now have the tool (which is much easier), I have used end nipper pliers with great success. I have also been careful removing them and been able to re-use them. But they are so cheap, why bother trying to re-use them?

Oetiker clamps are great, very reliable and simple to use. Can be bought from lots of supply houses at reasonable prices unlike brp's 10 times what it should cost price. Automotive industry is starting to use these more and more, just faster to install on an assembly line. For screw hose clamps, Ideal brand is very good but the best is Tridon, imo, which is what Seadoo uses. These can also be bought at reasonable prices is you do some searching.

Stainless zip ties are very often used in the mining industry. The come in about every size the plastic ones do.They can be cut to keep the sharp edge off them.Same as plastic ties.(where you cut off the excess)You dont pull them as tight because they never stretch and the retaining clip does not move at all.The look very similar to plastic ties.(but nice and shiny)

Oetiker clams (or clamps) work very well. The drawback is the installation tool. For a shade tree mechanic such as myself, I would consider buy the plier type tool for less than $20.00, but it's just too big and clumsy to install most of the fuel line connections. The other tool that will fit in tight places is just too expensive for occasional use.

You are right Lou.The small ties can be cut with a good sidecutter tool.the bigger ones need good gear.Fuel lines I would not use them.No need too.Shaft boot.Yes.

Good news, I really didn't intend to dredge this thread back up but I have found the stainless steel zip ties. Home Depot has them, 10 for just under 5.00, they're not real cheap but they are affordable, they're 1/4" x 10", they also have smaller one's a little bit cheaper. Best thing is no freight.

Lou.ifyou use them,do not do them up too tight at first. These things are strong and do not move.Plastic ones do move.Put them on and let them settle into whatever you ziptie. But they will stay there the life of the hose

Hi Guys.

I know this thread was from last fall... but I thought I would bump it because people are bringing skis out from their winter hibernation.

Are Oetiker clamps used for water hoses also? Are they stronger than your typical screw type clamp?

Oketer clamps are used everywhere from the factory. It's not a strength issue... it's that they are fast on an assembly line.

How do you tighten the cable tie? Special too required? I really like what you are saying about them.
