Check Engine Light

Hi All,
I went down the river tonight and when I left the restaurant and hit the gas the engine light came on. I put it into sport mode and it would only go to 60MPH and about half boost on the gauge. I also noticed a slight hesitation on acceleration from idle in touring mode The SC was rebuilt about 3 weeks ago and I have put about 4 hours on the clock since the rebuild. The dealer changed the plugs, changed pump grease, rebuilt the SC and greased everything up. I ride a lot and have put 81 hours on the ski since I bought last February. I am not sure if its related but The check engine light came on at 110 hours. I am going to take it to the dealer tomorrow AM and have check the codes. Let me know if any of you have an idea of what it is, I am curious as to what the issue is. The ski has been very reliable and I change the plugs and oil every 25 hours. I do a lot of long distance riding with the cruise set between 35-40MPH. The ski is a 2012 RXT-X with 110 hours.

I don't think it is a SC issue as, when they fail and or a tube/hose comes off or is cracked you loose about 25 MPH. If the ski normally goes 65 ish you would be at 40 ish if the SC was the issue...

Was there a code when the light came on?

Not that I noticed. I shut the ski off and fired it back up and came right back on. The light stayed on the entire 6 mile trip up the river. Once at the ramp I turned the ski off and fired it back up again and no light, I ran it for 2-3 minutes before trailing up and never came back on. Any ideas?

You are only 5-7 MPH off your top speed. Could be as simple as a lesser quality fuel.

4-tech skis will scroll the engine code. If the light is off, it thinks it is fixed or solved.

Hi, Thanks for your responses. Because it was a check engine light I figured it would have been something electrical. I was going to do a 60 mile out and back trip to lunch tomorrow and I think I will still go and see how it runs. From what it did today and what you are saying is that it wont strand me. UPdate! I dropped off the ski at Charleston Power sports on Tuesday they plugged it in to the computer while I waited and there was not any stored codes. I left ski and they where able to get the check engine light to come on and get the code. The service writer said it was a oxygen sensor that was bad and there was some kind of recall on it so it was replaced for free The tec took it to the river and road it for 30 minutes with no issues. Has any one else had this replaced for free?

He was bullshitting you. There is no oxygen sensor on these skis.

Ask what the code itself was.

I was wrong it was not an oxygen sensor it was a temperature sensor part number 420222423. I will call Charleston Power sports tomorrow and see if Greg remembers the code.

Grab a CanDooPro, anyone with more than 1 ski should definitely have one. They will save you tons in the end!

You riding a lot will wear the wear ring around the impeller. The impeller could probably use a little cleaning up. This would account for the slight loss.
