Has anyone seen nice improvements in HP or torque from simple home mods or bolt on things, not internal or $$$$$ mods? intake, A/F or tweaking something mods? I'd just like to know if there's anything out there that can be done to improve performance without breakin' the bank.
Thanks in advance for any help here, as I'm a NOOBE to this. I'll be picking up my new '08 130 GTI this Saturday AM, and I know at some point I'll want more power.
Any other tips welcome too

If you are thinking about more power before you even buy the pwc maybe you are looking at the wrong model. Why not look at a 155hp model such as the RXT?? It is a modest increase in power and the price isn't too steep. It is a much better option then buying something you are not satisfied with and selling it down the road to get something with more power.

I know if I was thinking about more power before I even owned a certain pwc I would rethink my options. When I bought mine I figured 215hp would be good enough, and it sure was. Now....after 80+ hours of riding I am thinking a little more power would be nice...maybe a 255hp model somewhere down the road.

Once you get used to a certain power level you are always going to want more, so buying something with less hp than you want is just going to lead to disappointment!!

I've got 2 kids (oh yea, and a wife), so I want entry level, but your point is VERY well taken. I'm just lookin' for options and info for this model. I'm just divin' into this one, as I rode a demo a few times this past summer and the family really liked it. I figure that I can do some basic mods and still hand the kids and wife the SLOW key. I'll be fine for a year or so, then when the warranty is done next fall, I can do some things to it.
If I want way more power, then I'll get the bigger HP model for a second ski. Still hoping for more responses here.
Thanks,
Joe

There aren't any cheap mods that will improve the performance of that particular seadoo in any noticable way....in fact, there aren't really any cheap mods for any PWCs.

You mention using the learning key for your kids....every seadoo when using a learning key performs pretty much the same. A gti, rxt 155 and a rxt 215 will go neck and neck on a learning key.

Don't get me wrong...a brand new gti is an awsome starting pwc and I am sure it will be tons of fun...i just don't want you to be dissapointed. You know your needs better than anyone else....so go get the new doo and have tons of fun before the cold weather sets in....unless you live in a southern state....if thats the case, I am jealous!

Power

My father used to have an RXT 155hp and at the time it wa great fun. Certainly if family orientation is what you're after then I wouldnt suggest you need more.

However I just bought a 2008 RXT-X and talk about blow your eyeballs out of their sockets.....:willy_nilly:

I am sure that the 255hp will keep me going for a while.

Most of my riding is in surf anyway, you really dont need that much hp for wave jumping but it's nice to have on the flat water days.

The GTI will be a great PWC for you and the family it has lots of power for ski and tube and will top out at 53-mph trust me I own a 2007.:)

Yeah for a family the Gti is the way to go. i own a two stroke with only 85 horses and kids love it its also good for just cruising as i'm sure your family will be doing a lot of.
