My speedster has 2 engines. Only one charges. Is this the way it was designed, or do I have a defective part in my second engine. Any ideas??

Both engines charge each battery separately. Check the charging system at the battery after you check the wiring. Use a multi-meter on the battery before it is started. It will show about 12.8 v (+-) with it running it should put out about 14v(+-). If its the same running or not it could be in the Rectifier or in the stator assy. if it isn't the wiring and connections.

I only have one battery, however I must have a problem with that left motor as it is not charging. 12V when the engines are off. 14.4 when the right engnine is started and left engine is off. 12V when the left engine is stared and the right engine is off. The rectifier, and the stator are both located at the rear of the engine not in the electrical box, correct?? Thanks for all your help.

Did I hear free stereo? lol It sounds to me that your boat has been converted over to probbly one big battery for one reason or another. If the boat performs as it should as the charging of the battery goes I would not worry about it. I do believe that the boat may have had 2 very small batteries when new. I can all ways be wrong so good luck Robin.

You have a 1996 speedster with 1 battery? If I'm not mistaken it should have 2 batteries. I don't have a manual at hand as I'm not on my puter today. All the electrical should be in the gray box in the engine compartment. Check the connections there too. I have a ton of extra parts for your model boat. I'll send ya a pm.
