I have a 2000 Challenger 1800 with really ratty helm and passenger seats. They are beyond repair and not worthy of recovering. I would like to just buy new aftermarket seats but I'm not sure how to mount them. I thinking about cutting out the base of my existing seats, with the swivel adjustment intact and just mounting replacement seats to theses bases. That would give me the swivel and back & forth adjustment I currently have.

Example of aftermarket seats here: Sea Doo Boat Helm Seats M2466BB | White Black (Pair)

Has anyone done something like this or have suggestions for new seats? Thank you!

I pulled ours out completely, including the base. Ordered new stainless washers, and picked up the shims at Home Depot. We lightly sanded them down and repainted, with a couple coats of uv resistant gloss(poly). We were fortunate enough to save the trim from around the seat to reuse. Lightly coated the swivel in marine grease before remounting....all in all a half of days time and 2 days for the poly to cure. Here’s somewhat before and after

Thank you for your reply. It looks like you refurbished the bases of your seats and retained the original seats. In my case it's the seats that are the problem. I'm looking to keep the bases and put on new aftermarket seats. You can see from the picture attached just how bad the seat is. Again, thank you!
