ceramic washers 06/ supercharged GTX

I asked dealership today about upgrading to the titanium washers for my
GTX-SC.. He said "just wait til it breaks cause it's around 600 bucks w/ labor".. ??? I asked if the broken ceramic washers would go through the engine and wipe out the oil pump and other critical engine parts as I've read here and he said "no, it's all sealed up"... ????

My dealer wants $550 to do the 100 hr SC service and change the washers.I was wondering if the price was right>what does the 100 SC service consist of?

Well, 600 or 550, pretty close.. I don't know if that includes an oil and filter change and a wear ring inspection/replace or not.. I think not. My biggest concern was him telling me to just run it until it breaks. He did say he'd seen some that didn't even make it 20 hours!

I was told that no oilchange or tune up,change spark plugs was included in the $550

Do it and don't hesitate.

If you are mechanically inclined you can do it yourself as it isn't too bad. If you want more details on how to DIY, I'll post them here.

These superchargers need to be rebuilt about every 100 hours, and the kit costs ~$320 and come with the steel washers, so $550 explains parts and labor.

The dealer told me the washers were titanium.. Maybe he was trying to justify the cost of the kit?.. I still don't know who to believe, the mechanic who told me it's o.k to run it until the washers break, that the pieces will NOT travel through the engine... or... .. everyone else that says I am doomed if I wait that long, pieces WILL travel through the engine.

yep...mo money, thats what dealerships are all about... thats why they ALWAYS reply, "you'll just have to bring it down" every time, on everything...

I spoke to a mechanic in San Jose and they said when the ceramic washer goes, it's like glass breaking and the shards get sucked into the oils pumps and shread things up. He said he had just finished an overhaul last week of one that had the washers go. He said ..."expensive"

I was at Bert's yesterday and they said not to worry about it too much and the ones they see go happen because the ski is being jumped and overreving in the air. He also said the washers could not be changed w/o the complete S/C being overhauled. Is that true or someone just trying to up-sell more service?
