Carrier bearing replacement / cavitation?

I'm a newbie here, just got a 95 Sportster. My first outing on the boat was great - 2hrs, no issues. My second outing, the carrier bearing seized on the shaft, causing the boat to take in water. Luckily this all happened at very low speed, near the dock. While bringing the boat in, I noticed that it did not have much thrust. The motor revved like normal but would barely move. I replaced the complete driveline bearing, now the boat does not take in water. But it still does not have much thrust. It is a little better, but not much. My research tells me that the boat is "cavitating?" Any help solving this issue is much appreciated. Thanks!

When the bearing seized up, you could have damaged the hull fitting where the hose/boot clamps to.

Any source of air will make the boat cavitate. Double check everything, and check the impeller and the wear ring.

If you removed the pump you should have been able to see the wear ring but if you only slid the motor forwards you will now be able to study the drive pump and be certain to form a good seal where the pump goes back into the hull meeting the ride plate, grease that bearing tube every month to keep it from locking/spinning from the hull fitting and in the begining of each season.

The wear ring appears to be in good condition with minimal clearance between it and the impeller. The thru hull fitting did have some melted plastic on it. It seemed a little thin in material, but was not cracked so I did not replace the fitting.
