Carburetor Trouble

I was working on cleaning my carburetor on a 2004 seadoo gti. I was having trouble getting the line that runs from the carb to the fuel pump.
And it ripped off but inside of it was what I presumed to a part of the nipple that broke off but it doesn't match from where I thought it broke off and the manual has what looks like a reducer inside of the line which doesn't make sense. Any help we be appreciated.

The reason I'm cleaning the carb is because when I was riding it, it just got slower and slower and slower until it would idle fine but die when given gas and it would backfire. I checked compression and it is good. I checked the lines and the gas and it's clean. I tried on reserve and it did the same thing. If I pull the choke it will continue to run into higher rpms so that is how I know it is running lean. So I rebuilt the carb and it was really clean but I figured maybe I missed something because it continued to do the same thing when the rebuilt carb. That all brings me to now where I was going to clean them again.

That’s the leak jet and is necessary as it controls fuel flow to the accelerator pump. Get new tygon hose and put the jet back inside the new hose.

Does it matter which way it goes in? Would it be a possibility that it has weak spark? I tested if it has spark and it does. Would weak spark cause it to back fire but do fine with the choke on?
