carbon ring/hull seal

I ordered the seals number 7 and 10 (finally) and just got them in. I was looking at them and noticed they are actually rubber seals, is this normal? I was expecting them to be carbon based/hard seals like what're on the boat now. I don't want to open the package if they aren't the correct part. I did order them from a seadoosnipe link which shows a 1995 Sportster.

It's hard to give you an answer as I don't know what #7 and #10 are. Is your boat a 1995 sportster?

Ah, I was trying to be quick and copy a post from the premium section here to get an answer. It is a 1995 Sportster, and the seals are now rubber. I'll get 'er all installed soon!

If you have the earlier style with the tube you can buy the parts and rework the tube however there are some places that sell complete tubes for about the same money and then you save time and have a spare to rework for next time - grease it every month and in the beginning of each season.

Yup... a 95 has a seal pack. You should replace the bearing too.

give us a link to the parts place so we can see what 7 and 10 are.

Here's the microfiche for the pump system. I did replace the bearing, and ordered another engine side seal to fix the one I put in wrong... I would have loved to have just ordered that all put together... Wish I had known.

I'm still having some troubles, any suggestions on where I can find the seal pack? I don't see it on that link I posted, and most of the other parts sites don't have the 1995 boat listed.

Thanks a lot for posting that up. I sure wish I'd known about it before. Would have saved me over $100 buying that compared to what I've done already, ugh... Oh well, lesson learned, and web site bookmarked!

I think I'm going to put mine back together as it is, and try to use it as long as I can. But I'm going to try to order the seal pack from this place, and I'll just keep it with the boat for my Shasta trip. I can put a new seal pack in in about 45 minutes to an hour depending on help...
