I have a 2011 GTI Limited and wanted to know if it is safe to tow it behind my pontoon in the water? Do I need to take any precautions or clamp off any hoses to avoid problems? I have heard it is possible to flood engine?

Clamp off the exhaust hose and tow it slowly and you should be good.

+1

add a simple valve in the exhaust hose and just turn to tow and turn back to ride.. towing at any speeds close to 10-15 mph will force water into where it shouldnt be.

I don't like valves. It's too easy to forget it.

Get a "Pinch"... and put your lanyard on it. That way... you will have to pull the pinch to get your lanyard, before it's started.

Thanks for the quick replies!

As a newb I have to ask...where is the exhaust located and what does it look like? Any pictures would be appreciated!

Thank again! :confused::confused:

If you remove the seat you will see a black rubber house coming out of the water box and curving over the tunnel and on the opposite side along the tunnel.

Your owner's guide says it can be towed up to 15mph without doing anything. How fast do you want to tow?

I totally get this, but I think you can achieve the same thing by attaching your lanyard to the valve when you close it. Then you will remember to open the valve when you got to start it. A pinch once in a while is no biggie, but if you toe the craft often enough pinching the hose does where on the structure of the hose. A valve would be a quick and long lasting solution I would think.

I would drill a hole in the valve handle and put a key ring or similar in it so you can clip your lanyard on it whenever you close it.
