It's being given away for free. It appears to be missing some parts, but if the engine is still in there and the hull seems sound would it be a good project?

Free is always good. And if the engine in it bonus. And if the engine isn't seized bonus bonus ! I have that machine myself and I absolutely love it. Probably one of the best bang-for-your-buck machine out there today IMO. If the haul is good(no holes, minimal to no chunks missing etc) a new engine can cost anywhere from 800-1100 or so new for the original 787. If you can find a running used engine then it'll probably be cheaper but they're pretty scarce.

Also if the engines in it and is half decent shape, you can probably do a rebuild yourself for 400-600 or so

your going to have a better deal just finding a running one. that one looks like it will need one of everything. $$$

you can't beat the price !
But its probably just good as a parts ski, the engine, driveshaft, pump, and most importantly MPEM, all have value. unless its been gutted inside. That listing would last about 4 hours down in Florida

If that was local to me, it would already be in my garage and I would have posted something along the lines of:

"look what just fell of the back of the truck"

It was posted 10 days ago and the guy hasn't emailed/called back yet. It's probably already gone. Nuts.

Time to go rebuild the starter for my SPi.

1997 XP, FL tags, some genius took off the seat thinking that's how you service the engine (it's not).
Appears to be a yard owned by a man with a beer gut and a wife too old to wear shorts that short. All the stickers have been removed, most likely some kind of sacrifice to the bilge gods, but possibly the horse power gods.
