Camshaft position and Crankshaft position sensors

Hi all,
Since the crankshaft and camshaft are locked in timing due to a chain, what is the purpose of the camshaft position sensor and the crankshaft position sensor? What does each one do?

They tell the ignition when to fire , crankshaft rotates twice to one time for the camshaft , they tell the computer the position for timing and which stroke the crank is on and also the RPM. Crank sensor tells timing and RPM , cam sensor tells which stroke the crank is on.
